Alright, so check this out – there’s some crazy stuff going down in the media industry. Apparently, big players like Gannett, News Corp, and IAC have been having hush-hush discussions with OpenAI about licensing their content. But here’s the kicker – they can’t seem to agree on the price and terms. It’s like a real-life game of chess, man.
Then, out of nowhere, The New York Times comes swooping in and sues OpenAI and Microsoft for using their content without permission to develop AI products. And get this – before suing, they had been in talks for months trying to work out a deal. And it’s not just them – other heavyweights like Gannett, News Corp, and IAC have also been at the negotiating table with OpenAI.
On top of all that, the News/Media Alliance, representing over 2,200 news organizations in North America, has been in talks with OpenAI as well. The plot thickens, my friends.
