So check it out, this is kind of a cheap Friday post, but I came across the fact that OpenAI’s CEO and co-founder just posted on X/Twitter that he thought the new Apple Vision Pro is the “second most impressive tech since the iPhone.”
So basically, this dude thinks OpenAI’s own ChatGPT is the no. 1 “most impressive” new tech since Apple launched its mobile device in 2007.
But wait, there’s more. This Altman guy also responded to a reply guy that said Apple’s new spatial computing headset had “probably the worst name tho,” and kinda dissed his own product in the process.
Given Altman’s impressions, it makes sense that OpenAI already shipped a visionOS version of the ChatGPT app last week.
But then check it, the Vision Pro is one of the pricier mass-market tech devices we’ve seen in a hot minute, going for $3,500 up front (or $291.58 per month for a year). And get this, third party estimates are suggesting it’s already sold more than 200,000 units since it was first available for purchase in the U.S. last month. Crazy, right?
