Alright ladies and gentlemen, Munich Airport is taking things to the next level with their plans to build some badass fully automated passenger boarding bridges. I’m talking about advanced technology here!
Just recently, at the inter airport Europe 2023 event in Munich, Munich Airport, along with its Terminal 2 subsidiary and Dabico Airport Solutions Germany, got together and signed a letter of intent. Now, what’s the purpose of this letter, you ask? Well, they’re teaming up to develop a super innovative concept for these automated boarding bridges. They’re getting serious about making our lives easier.
So, what does this mean exactly? The LOI states that both companies will work together to figure out all the requirements needed for these passenger boarding bridges to operate autonomously. And once they’ve got that covered, they’re gonna join forces to create a badass pilot system for Munich Airport. They’re not messing around, folks.
Jost Lammers, Munich Airport’s CEO, is fired up about this project. He’s got big plans to speed things up and make the docking and undocking operations for these bridges a breeze. It’s all about being efficient and reliable, people.
Now, Alexander Pfurr, the managing director and CCO of Dabico Airport Solutions Germany, is also excited about this collaboration. He sees it as a big opportunity to keep pushing the boundaries and developing awesome integrated systems. Gotta love that ambition.
But hold on, folks! These automated boarding bridges are just a piece of the puzzle. Munich Airport has a whole digitalization strategy going on. They’re all about making everything smoother and more convenient for us passengers. They’ve got biometric boarding pass checks, biometric access to gates and lounges, and even these fancy “smart trolleys” for navigation and shopping. And that’s not all! They’ve got chatbots for all your inquiries, self-checkout kiosks, self-order terminals in restaurants, and they’re even using sensor technology to calculate waiting times at security checkpoints. And get this, they’ve got some robots working their magic for ground handling services and cleaning duties. They’re really stepping up their game.
So, let me tell you, Munich Airport is on a mission. They’re bringing in the cutting-edge technology and making sure things run smoothly for us. They’re making travel a whole lot easier and more enjoyable. Props to them for their dedication to digital innovation.
